  • Chairman of the Forsyth County Task Force to establish Prime Farmlands preservation.{We did in fact establish a program to protect prime farmlands which was the first in the southeastern United States.}
  • Charter member of the Forsyth County Epilepsy Foundation.
  • Campaign chairman for Manly Lancaster Sheriff of Forsyth County in two successful election attempts.
  • Campaign chairman for Preston Oldham Sheriff of Forsyth County in one successful and  one non-successful election attempt.
  • Campaign Chairman for Calvin McGee in unsuccessful election attempt.
  • Three times President of the Winston-Salem Salt Water Fisherman’s Club.
  • Member and trustee of the Germanton Methodist Church.
  • Director of the Special Operations Response Team, Inc. from 1989 to 2003.  Served as Executive Vice-President and Chairman of the Board of Directors. {This organization grew from being a unit of Forsyth County Fire and Rescue to being one of the top four Medical Response teams in the United States}
